Motherlodge Presents

A band battle to benefit The St. Jude Transitional Housing Program and performing musicians

Love Jones and Everybody are going to kick off Independence Day weekend with a night to revel in the rapture of feeling good and helping others.

On July 1 2022 Headliners Music Hall will host a band battle between the internationally infamous Louisville Kings of Lounge and Pop Love Jones and “Everybody”, a one-night-only Louisville music entourage anchored by bassist Jimmy Brown & drummer Ray Rizzo featuring Louisville luminaries Sherry Edwards, Sheryl Rouse, Kimmet Cantwell, Tyrone Cotton, Jeanette Kays, Pat Lentz, Jyn Yates, Brett Holzclaw, Joe Hanna, and more tba.

The evening will begin with the bands performing a set of music of their choosing, followed by a series of song challenges which will be judged by audience participation and a panel of esteemed judges.

A Thrill In The Ville is a free show for anyone over 21. A suggested donation of $25 is appreciated, but not required: attendees are encouraged to give what they can. All proceeds from the evening and will go to the performers and the St. Jude Transitional Housing Program in Louisville.

A Thrill In The Ville will be livestreamed by LRS102, the Louisville internet rock radio station founded in the spirit of the WLRS 102, the formative Louisville radio station that broadcast from 1964 until the early 2000’s. Back in the day, WLRS 102 FM hosted live broadcasts and produced a series of “homemade albums” featuring Louisville bands.

Love Jones formed in Louisville in 1990 and moved to Los Angeles in 1992, blazing a trail for what came to be known as the “cocktail nation”, epitomized by the film Swingers in which the band’s influence is evidenced by their song “Paid for Lovin’” Not a band to pigeonhole, Love Jones’ records delve into funk, 70’s soul, pop, and tropicana. They have performed on The Conan O’Brien Show and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Motherlodge is a live event presenting organization started by musician/producer Ray Rizzo. Motherlodge began in 2009 at The Rudyard Kipling venue in Louisville with annual Live Arts Exchange programs featuring artists from Louisville and New York City in performances that emphasized collaboration and community.
