The Moth is a non-profit organization that features people telling true stories from their lives with no notes, power point or cheat sheets. Check out The Moth Podcast (downloaded more than 15 million times a year) or listen for episodes of the Peabody Award-winning Moth Radio Hour on WFPL to hear some of our all-time favorites..including three stories from the first season of The Moth in Louisville at Headliners!
The StorySLAM is The Moth’s wildcard series, welcoming any and all folks to share their five-minute stories onstage. Hosted by Ashlee Clark Thompson and Graham Shelby and featuring your neighbor, your aunt, your vet/hairdresser/cab driver/ undertaker/nurse/lawyer/cop/baker or candlestick maker…. Or perhaps YOU! The show happens on the last Tuesday of every month.

The Moth StorySLAM
Topic: Love Hurts
Prepare a five-minute tale about a love that made you go OUCH. The agony of deferred love! The misery of good love, gone bad! The anguish of one-way love! Bring stories of your heart, kicked to the curb by the people or places or things you love…or used to love. Love that “Hurts So Good” also welcome.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Check the calendar for upcoming themes to inspire your own tales or come to hear the jukebox of 10 storytellers picked at random. For more information on how to tell your own story at The Moth StorySLAM, visit our participation guide and storytelling tips!
No experience needed to participate in the show. Just a great story, the courage to get on stage (Headliners has a full bar, if that sort of encouragement would help) and the luck of the draw. OR bring you friend who has a great story and bolster him or her with your love…and maybe a few shots.
“…the yarns spun ranged from the reverent to the debaucherous and sometimes both at the same time — a dichotomy that Louisvillians can appreciate.” – The Courier-Journal
